LUT LUT LUT

An envelope poem appropriating and misappropriating text from the letters of architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and his wife Lady Emily Lutyens, who had a bizarre and unconventional marriage.

Created in collaboration with Steven Hitchins of The Portable Pocketbook Press, this object poem folds outwards to reveal the intimate frustrations and complexities of an extraordinary relationship. Lutyens designed country homes for the Edwardian super rich, iconic war memorials and imperial cities, but this sequence approaches him through a lesser known pub he designed in South Devon, and the lifestyle and reconciliation it represented.
